How to Survive College
Hello my name is Nicole Lane, I am a Sophomore at The University of Michigan Dearborn. I am 22 years old majoring in Elementary Education. I did not take a break once I graduated High school, I just had no idea what I wanted to become in life . I took all my general education courses at Schoolcraft Community College. I was extremely motivated my freshman year, but as the semesters passed I couldn't get my priorities straight. Struggling with math all my life I couldn't even pass Math 113, so I put it aside to deal with later. During my years at Schoolcraft every subject came easy for me, except math ... of course (which I avoided) .
Finally in my last semester at Schoolcraft I picked to major in Elementary Education. Picking my major in my last semester at Schoolcraft, motivated me to beat the struggle of College and to finally take on my "math anxiety" at U of M Dearborn.
So here it is, my tip for surviving College is...
Put your priorities straight and find balance. The subject you struggle in the most should be your first priority. Too many times in the past I put my full attention on the subjects I already knew and felt confident in. Starting at U of M Dearborn I decided to put my weaknesses first, and my strengths last.
I believe- Once you picked your priorities and learned to balance them between everything else, you will survive College, as long as you try your absolute best.
- To find out if my strategy/ tip was common among other College students, I decided to go around asking my fellow classmates what they considered to be the number one tip or strategy for surviving College.

- I'm forever curious how every student handles College. I chose to write this blog to get a better grasp on how my peers deal with College, and to maybe intake some tips and strategies that I can put into use for my further semesters.
Sincerely, Nicole Lane
